Lava Mirror 6
Lava Mirror 6
The agate tableau in Studio Greytak’s Lava Mirror 6 could depict its own molten beginnings. Concentric rings of dramatic color illustrate the moments just after eruption. Lava seeps from still-active vents while around it, earlier flows have already hardened into dark volcanic glass. Misty gray steam rises from the landscape toward a thin layer of visible sunset. In the center, a cave of tiny, sparkling quartz develops, a silver lining to the day’s destruction. Agate, formed in the pockets left by just such theatrical shows of nature, carries with it soothing energies. The polished center of Lava Mirror 6 reflects that peace back onto those in its presence.
