Jasper

Many actors have stepped in front of the spotlight with jasper in their pocket. A bold stone that empowers the spirit, jasper is an opaque rock of many colors ranging from deep reds and browns to brighter yellows and greens and, rarely, blue. Shamans throughout the ages have worn protective talismans of jasper, considering the stone an integral part of the life-giving elements of the planet.

Jasper is formed when low-temperature and silicate-rich water percolates through cracks in existing rocks, depositing a host of mineral-laden sediment that crystalizes over time into colorful stones that reflect the natural landscape of our planet.

Jasper has been revered since the beginning of time. Tools, carvings, seals, and jewelry made of the stone have been found in almost every ancient civilization. Ancient Egyptians carved amulets with inscriptions from the Book of the Dead from jasper and buried them with their loved ones for a safe passage in the afterlife. The first stone on the High Priest of the Israelite's breastplate, was a red jasper, the tenth stone, may have been a yellow jasper. Legend has it that the magi were initially named after jasper as was the apostle Peter, for being the rock upon which Christ would build his church.

Known as the nurturer for its slow and constant frequency, jasper is perfectly aligned with the electromagnetic energies of Earth. It is a stone of grounding and stability that brings wisdom, renewed vitality, and enduring strength.
