Blue barite is the stone of dreams. It promotes the dream state, helps one with astral travel during dreams, and then helps one with dream recall and the interpretation of dream imagery. Some North American indigenous people used barite for earth healing. Their legends say that when their warriors passed over to the spirit world, they came back at night and carved barite roses then scattered them throughout the world. The legends also claim that barite aids in shape shifting and provides a portal from the physical world to the spiritual one.
Blue barite is the less common form of the mineral. It is most often found in Colorado where it crystalizes from ground water in clay beds made from volcanic ash. It can also occur in calcite-filled veins along fault-zones and sometimes near hot springs.
Blue barite, which calls to mind a delicate flower made from ice blue spikes, reaches upward to the spiritual world. It has a very high vibration but actually softens the energy of stones that are too intense. It is excellent at enhancing intuition and communication and stimulates increased coincidences or synchronicity.
